Rui Luz (b.September 1986) is a photographer & digital artist, who takes an experimental approach into the artistic fields of photography and digital art. Influenced by subjects like minimalism, the abstract, graphic design, dreamlike states, noir art, expressionism, romanticism, cinema, paintings, music, metaphors, philosophy and themes like time and space, emotions, dreams, solitude, stoicism, society, lethargy, opression, freedom, hope, emptyness, reality, distortion, fetishism and erotica. He uses mainly black and white in his work, and aims for atmosphere and concept sometimes in an abstract manner rather than beauty. His way of composing pictures is extremly simplistic, in a minimalist way, he believes the true essence of the picture must be stripped to the fundamental points, this way there are no unnecessary distractions, and the main subject is completely preserved.

I started photographing in 2004, spent two years learning photography in ETIC (Escola Técnica de Imagem e Comunicação) in Lisbon, from 2008 to 2010.

My main objective on Joining MM is to contact and work with models. I'm looking for a more alternative photographic approach, with a key on concept, atmosphere and emotion. I do my own editing and retouching.
