About Me

~My name is Jennifer Gelinas and I'm from Ithaca, NY where I graduated from highschool in 1997. I began college courses there, focusing on psychology and philosophy. I eventually decided to forgo mainstream education to pursue my own studies in the Metaphysical. I'm now a certified Reiki practitioner, although I'm not currently practicing. I now live in Cortland, NY and have beautiful 5 year old daughter, Abree.

~I've always been an artist in many forms, including music. I'm proficient in both French Horn and Trumpet. I had been interested in Photo Manipulation for a long time. I had always admired others work in that area, but it seemed like such a complicated process. Finally, in September of 2011, I decided to give it a go and try to learn. I looked around the net, got some info, and figured out what kind of program I needed. I stumbled on a few that had the tools I needed, but I wasn't very happy with the interface. Then, I found Photoshop in late November. I ate, drank, and slept it (well, not much sleep, actually...lol). I poured my heart and soul into learning what I had so admired in other's work.
~I reached a major milestone on April 4th, the following year. I was honored with a Daily Deviation for my work "Tree Of Life" on deviantART.

~I focus mainly on photo manipulation and retouching. I work with world renowned photographer Kevin Jairaj of kJImages photography. We have collaborated on various projects together including an artistic advertising series of the 2012 Olympic athletes for USA Today. I also have a contract with UnBound Games LLC who will be using several of my works on their cards in their new role playing game called Serpent’s Tongue which is projected to launch in June of this year. My work has been featured on Photoshop Website and I was also the featured artist in the August, 2012 issue of Suspense Magazine.

~My style of work is quite versatile, although I must admit I am a bit more attracted to the dark and edgy end of the spectrum. For the most part, my work has always held an air of mystery with countless perceptions to be made and questions left unanswered for a time. Yes, of course I also do fairies and angels and pieces that are more straightforward, but my true passion lies in my ability to speak to so many people on so many different levels through my art and I'm truly humbled by that.

~Please feel free to contact me if I can be of service to you in any way. My rates are very reasonable and I'm always open to the possibility for trade of services.

<3 Jen
