AIPP accredited photographer with a love for fashion-inspired and lifestyle portraits. I take a storytelling approach when shooting, letting the subject and the scene--and something altogether divine--frame the shot and capture the emotion. Images are a forever and timeless thing and I invest myself in the treatment of each image as a complete expression of itself; each as a unique intimate piece of artwork. Even with events, where stylisation in post is not necessarily required, I still shoot through the lens with a cinematic eye.
My approach is somewhat purist, having grown up in the days of film and darkrooms—where printing was the ultimate expression and your photos were framed, hung somewhere prominent and admired. As an artist, I am always looking to collaborate with models, makeup artists and hairstylists because, quite simply, I love transformation; the power of beauty and the immediacy of photography as a medium. I love the ‘getting into character’ and imagining a whole story around a face, a look, an outfit—no matter the scene— and how the body makes shapes in any environment tells as much a story as the eyes and face do. I look for this as well, working quickly to distil the narrative…
As I am always aspiring towards artistic expression, working with others gives each of us the opportunity to grow in our craft.
