Rochelle LaBrie is a Fashion Design student from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale who will receive her Bachelor’s degree in the fall season of 2012. She has loved art and fashion her whole life and loves the idea of being in the creative career field of design upon graduating. She follows the saying “it’s not really work if it’s something you love,” and that is why she decided on the career path that she is on.

Rochelle was born in the city of flashy lights and all night extravaganzas of Las Vegas. When she was four, her parents relocated to the family oriented resort area of Virginia Beach. As a kid she adapted to the hot weather and sandy environment and since Virginia Beach is not a major fashion capital in the U.S. she decided to go to school in the Fort Lauderdale area.

Since attending school at the Art institute Rochelle has come across many opportunities in the fashion field and has excelled in her classes. She has worked for very successful designers and boutique owners in the Miami-Dade area including Richie’s Swimwear and Intrigue Couture, has completed her internship with the amazing designer Eduardo De Las Casas, has volunteered over 150 hours in various fashion shows and photo shoots, and has had promising freelance opportunities within the fashion design field. She also holds a grade point average of 3.8 while attending school full time, working in boutiques between classes and homework, and volunteering in her free time.

Rochelle is very excited about her future and what is to come next. She plans to work for a design company for two to three years upon graduating to gain real world experience in the field and then eventually come out with her on line of clothing. Her dream is to own her own boutique selling clothes from lingerie to evening wear. She feels she is the Martha Stewart of clothing because she loves to design it all.
