About Me

I am the half of Bitches of Kensington that presses the button on my Nikon. I try to capture images that incorporate suburb lighting and intriguing subject matter.

I am a self-taught photographer who used to want to be a lawyer. In 2008 I left studying Economics, Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Victoria to live in France. I bought a Nikon D60 before I left and spent a month traveling around Istanbul, Odessa and Berlin by myself. The camera was a good companion. I lost the manual the day I bought my camera but had plenty of time to figure out how to use on my trip. After two years in France, I moved back to Canada and continued my studies at a Glendon College, a tiny little French Liberal Arts school in Toronto. I am still a part-time student there and am the president of Lunik Co-op, a student café/space for revolutionaries(!).

I’m most interested in documentary photography and using available light. My favourite photography website is http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/.

I am continually working on a collection of photos called ‘People Eating’ which examines the various facets and the unifying (and sometimes isolating) experience of preparing, sharing and eating food. I’m also working on developing a collection of photos of my fellow Kensington Market dwellers and shop owners as documentation of the community in 2012 and it’s comparison to past eras.
