About Me

Originally from a small town in southern Arizona, I left for the Army at age twenty-one. With tours in country and abroad I've met some really great people and visited some beautiful and interesting places; experiences and travel that reinforced my love for life, faith, family and country.

Now living in western Washington State, I'm privileged to live in a region with such an abundance of outdoor beauty - and the mountains are fun hiking, too!

I was never really interested in photography until one specific moment. Having just purchased my first digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) in January 2007, I began my long road trip from Washington State to Arizona. The winter scenery was remarkable with fresh snow on the ground and in the trees, so much so that I stopped at the next rest area just to take it all in.

At that place was a large evergreen tree covered in light snow and fern growing out from its branches - interesting and beautiful. I photographed the scenery and it was at that moment that I loved photography. Unfortunately that photo doesn't exist anymore, but it's forever in my memory and for that I'm eternally grateful.

In photography, I’d discovered a great way to help keep in touch with family and friends across the country - I would write them boring email messages with unrecognizable photo attachments! But instead of carrying-on in this manner I studied photography (informally) so as that I could better capture the scenery and, in doing so, it inspired me to think of the people I love and admire on a more individual and personal level.

To this end, many of the images I capture include thoughts of loved ones and thoughts of how I might write my story about that particular day or location. Without them, I would have never challenged myself to capture the beauty of things and life.

Thank you for your interest and support in my imagery and thanks to family and friends for their love and encouragement.
