About Me

Why I became a photographer

I chose photography as my passion because from an early age I was enthralled by capturing the beauty in this world. As a child in I was given my first camera from my mother, who in reality truly inspired me to pursue photography with such an ardent and fiery passion. My unique perspective went further than just showing people how I saw a scene. My photography also let me express myself. My opinions and beliefs, I did this by choosing what I photographed. This aspect of photography is very malleable. You get a sense of what a photographer is like as a person by looking at their work. This part of photography is absolutely fascinating as a viewer, and fulfilling as a shooter. I primarily photographed the female figure because it personifies all the beauty in this world. My second passion was for rock music, most of my work is quite reflective of my passions in life. With a photograph I could capture essence of the moment, and have it for generations to come. I think we take that idea for granted, with photography being so ubiquitous nowadays. Seriously just take a second to appreciate that, contemplate a world without photography. Once I started noticing details, I inevitably started to see how much beauty was encompassing me. Every day is filled with it in the most normal or unpredictable places. I derive a tremendous amount of happiness from seeing people appreciate my work, and the other works of different photographers.
Photography, through its ability to help me see details and notice the beauty around me, helped me to truly live in the present. When I shoot I have to be aware of everything if I wanted to capture it correctly. I can’t be thinking about the TV show I watched last night, or what I was going to eat for lunch etc. Photography taught me patient, which is extremely valuable. Whether I know them or not, people are an amazing photographic subject. I photographed a lot of rock bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio, and other prestigious and renowned Rock Bands. That was a daunting task when I first started. I would surrounded by rowdy fans and be in the middle of a tumultuous crowd, being able to capture them was both a fantastic photographic challenge, and a profound learning experience. The most important thing I could tell anyone is never to undermine any ones work; they see the world from a different perspective, and offer a different experience. I have tremendously enjoyed my career as a photographer and my portfolio substantiates that claim. Thank you very much for reading.
