Phyllis Wong is a photographer and graphic designer in Sydney, specialising in architectural and commercial photography including fashion, performing arts, food, still life and corporate portraiture. Phyllis has built a portfolio of work that explores functionality and aesthetic details in different types of architecture.
Phyllis began her career in urban design, where she developed an artistic sensitivity for the relationship and interaction between people, nature and the "built" environment. She creates individual images or series of images that tell a story about the building and its environment. Her style is recognisable through her use of HDR and exposure fusion, taking the visual qualities of buildings to a whole new level. Phyllis is enthusiastic about evolving her skills in embracing different aspects of photography, bringing her unique style into fashion, still life, food, performing arts and portrait photography.
In her post graduate studies Phyllis explored her passion for sustainable development in a modern theory called "New Urbanism". Its principle is to improve the pedestrian friendliness of spaces in order to minimise the use of cars and encourage the connection between humans and nature. In Phyllis's portfolio you will see her interpretations of the skyscraper, sustainable development themes, heritage adaptive re-use and apartment living - exploring the aesthetic quality as well as functionality and scale of architecture and space.
Phyllis is an expert in retouching, and her skills in HDR and exposure fusion are invaluable in architectural photography to present highlighted and shadowed architectural details, or to view interior and exterior details in a single image. Retouching is also an important part of portrait and fashion photography and Phyllis also uses it to create images of perfection in portraits, fashion shows and theatrical performances.
Phyllis is based in Kensington, Sydney, but will travel Sydney wide and beyond.
