About Me

I started taking pictures back in the days of film; Kodak Ektachrome 64 for portraits, Fuji Velvia for scenics. Started with a Pentax K1000, a fully manual camera. The only information in the viewfinder was a little needle on the side that went up if you over exposed and went down if you under exposed. Powered by two button batteries that came pre-drained for convenience. At least it seemed that way. Finally stopped bothering to replace the silly things and just did the exposure calculation in my head.

Eventually, all my gear was either stolen, lost or broken and I, for reasons unclear to me now, just stopped.

Well, I'm back. (yay?) I got's me a fancy, shmancy new camera and I'm looking to make some pretty pictures again. Quite a learning curve it is, but I'm having fun and looking to find some people that will teach me how to take pictures, especially models who can tell me what works, what doesn't, what they like, what they don't like, etc.

My style, if indeed I can be said to have one, could be described as 'holistic'. Meaning that I believe that a lot of the important parts of the photograph are the ones you don't see: the rapport between the model and photographer, if the model is having a good time (and not just 'there') the mood, what the model is thinking, what the model is looking at (besides the camera). All these things, I believe, influence the final picture and an intriguing picture has a certain 'je ne sais quoi' quality to it that comes from all the innumerable little things that you don't see, but see in the picture.
