Hello, my name is Elwood St. James. I was born and raised on Chicago’s South Side, currently residing in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. Although I’ve never been through formal art school, I have had training and study in pencil, ink, charcoal, and chalk drawing, and also oil and water color paint. This training however, was many many moons ago. Life happened, and interrupted all things artistic. 25 years have passed since I last took up a pencil and began to draw again, and I find it quite exhilarating to be back. In that span of 25 years, I have had the pleasure to delve into live performance as a musician in the band Rock Candy (http://www.facebook.com/#!/rockcandyrocks), and as a radio show host. Not to mention several jobs in technology along the way, saving the world from email malfunction and failure.

The inevitable question is, what inspired me to draw and paint again after 25 years of absence? The answer is easy – thanks to (if you’ll pardon the pun) the exposure of the Pin Up genre, I have found that the innate admiration I have for the female form is best expressed through art. Absorbing the endless beauty of the Female in all her glory inspired me to take up the pencil and put it to paper. What can I say? I adore the Female in all her various shapes, colors, and sizes. Especially her curves. Her sensuous and voluptuous curves. Nothing is more beautiful to me, and such a subject is infinitely more interesting than drawing a bowl of fruit!
