I am a young artist that works with instant photography. My current project is focused on taking pictures of men. I am planning to have an exhibition and a book when I am finished. The idea behind the project is looking at the man as an object of beauty. I have studied cinematography in university and have worked with both photography and video before in a professional capacity.

Flowers is a project exploring modern masculinity. I want to look at how men present and carry themselves in modern society. My approach is taking pictures in an environment that the model feels comfortable in. I prefer to take pictures in the house of the sitter or at a place that the model feels particularly comfortable in - like a favourite hang-out - be it a cafe, a park or a street. The main idea behind this is the space being a further representation and maybe a reflection of the subject.

I chose the title of my project because of my personal understanding of the broadening idea of what a man should be. Before women would normally reserve the role of a flower - something to allure the man, something to be marvelled at, but now men are equally sexualised and the pressure put on the way a man looks is the same for both sexes. Especially in the worlds of advertising, fashion and grooming.

This is what Flowers is all about - to take a look at men as objects of desire and beauty. To veer away from looking at the male form as an embodiment of power, function and athletic ability. I want to explore this unusual way of looking at man.
