Hello All! I have created this MM account for my Graduate Thesis specifically. I am an experienced photographer in many different photographic genres, but this project is one that my heart and soul are in.

I have been photographing abandoned places for almost as long as I have been photographing. Growing up in Southern Maryland and Virginia, I was able to gain access to many abandoned buildings and homes in the area. Since I have moved to the San Francisco area, my abandoned work has many focused on abandoned military bases and facilities in the area.

I see these abandoned places the way I see myself and other people; damaged and scarred, yet beautiful and full of history. This is what I want to convey to my viewers; that life can leave you in ruins but those ruins are what forms us into the beautiful and unique people we are today.

So I have begun to pair my abandoned images with portraits of people -- people with stories they are willing to share about a time in their own life that they may have felt abandoned, in ruins, or had to struggle through and though the time may have left scars, you can appreciate that they make-up who you are now.
