About Me

I work out of my own studio in downtown Charlottesville, making stereoscopic fine art images. This means I sell the images in small quantities to individual collectors. Typically my images are sold as hand-made stereocards (stereoviews). This is a vintage format. When viewed in a stereoscope, the cards show a beautiful and immersive three dimensional effect, as well as other stereoscopic effects (very tangible iridescence, transparency, reflectivity, etc.).

Lately I've been shooting outside in nature including in or underwater, or in the industrial / built environment. I am also still shooting medium format slide film, as long as it remains available.

My primary interest here on MM is in finding models and other collaborators with whom to explore creative ideas and discover new methods and processes to express them. In my portraiture, I like nothing more than simple honesty. This is true in my figure studies, erotic, and/or fetish imagery. Beyond that I enjoy the challenge of interpretive or conceptual eroticism.

I like to experiment with unusual lighting (light painting, lasers), photographic techniques (multiple or time exposure), mirrors and semi-transparent props, and special stereoscopic techniques. When I get into something experimental, the sessions are contemplative and deliberate. I also enjoy shooting in unusual locations - including architectural photography - so if you have a location, please let me know!

I can work with novice models - sometimes I prefer it. I shoot TFP with novice models. I shoot both studio and location. Since I do not shoot commercially, I keep the atmosphere relaxed, accepting and fun. You can always bring a friend or partner. I always try to meet your needs while pursuing my artistic vision.
