Some of my garments are also available for use in return for images and/or video that i can include in my portfolio, etc , please feel free to contact me for more details regarding this.

I look forward to hearing from all the creative talents on here and potentially having the chance to work with you in the near future.

My Bio

Miss Tara-Mary Dockerty-Wanhalla is a designer who draws inspiration from all aspects of existence; from the smallest crack in the ground, to dreams from the night before. Her looks are all about being free to explore the everyday in depth whilst keeping one’s mind wide open. Her grungy rocker-meets-glam clothing takes the ordinary to the extraordinary in new and fabulous ways.

Since a young age, Tara has known that the Fashion world was for her. Now, at the age of 21, she has been able to develop her passion through a range of Creative Arts subjects at High school, followed by a two years of pre-tertiary studies at the Hagley School of Fashion, where she learnt how to bring her illustrations of her fantasy garments to life. Tara is currently studying to be a bachelor of Design at Massey University where she is taking a joint major in Fashion and Business.

Shortly after applying for the program at Massey, Tara registered her Fashion label ‘Diamond Designz’. She says she wanted to find an appropriate label for an array of designer garments from runway quality to ready-to-wear looks and one-of-a-kind couture. ‘Diamond Designz’ seemed the perfect choice as she narrowed her vision down to one where she would create looks that would allow the wearer’s inner diamond to shine.

In this spirit, Tara intends to take the stereo-types out of Fashion and bring in a more healthy, down-to-earth look that celebrates individuality and diverse style with her clothing. Her three recent collections are just a sample of this fresh, exciting aesthetic brought to life through fabric and a passion for the astounding quirks we find in reality.

Talking about ‘Waterfront Dreams’, her 2011 summer collection, Tara tells us that the collection developed after an incident where she was trying to locate a dance class in a new city. “I ended up getting horribly lost and ended up on a wharf somewhere. At this point I decided to just keep walking down the waterfront, and this idea came to me of creating a summer resort inspired collection. I wanted something that you could wear during the day in the city that would transition easily to the yacht, or in the sun somewhere.”

Her Winter collection takes new age punk and transforms it into a look that’s more than just safety pins and social rebellion. In her Couture collection, she’s delved into her own timeless romanticism and coupled elegant flowing fabrics and laces with toy soldier jackets, bringing an edgy feel to a nut-cracker inspired collection.

Tara is looking forward to allowing her own inner Diamond to shine through these and plenty of future designs. She seems determined to make it in this ever-evolving world of fashion. “If the fashion industry were to dissolve, I’d find a huge piece of me missing” she tells us. From what we’ve seen of Tara’s designs, if she were to disappear, we’re pretty sure that the fashion world would miss a huge chunk of its own future self.

For both Guys and Dolls who like to have a bit of edge to their wardrobe, Miss Tara-Mary Dockerty-Wanhalla’s designs are for you.
