About Me

Once upon a time my photography was a large element of my art. Then life got in the way- disillusioned by the crushing theft of my gear (cams and hard drive included) and pulled in other directions by other projects, I largely let my photography fall by the wayside. Having recently resettled in the states into a routine of relative stability, I aim to correct this. Historically, in addition to extensive travel photography work, I have worked with models as part of conceptual pieces. Though I have and will occasionally continue to work in more straightforward, traditional formats, for the most part I really will only have time in the near future to work on several specific shoots that directly pertain to ongoing projects. Vague though it may sound, I am very into the juxtaposition of the exotic with the mundane, beauty with decay, technology with nature, and modern art culture with cross-cultural indigenous art forms. I like to shoot in places that reflect that, and quite often manipulate a given environment (natural or man-made) to fit my aesthetic. I am fascinated by light and form, and prefer to manipulate a lot of my work in real time instead of digitally whenever possible. Quite often this means very specific timing, which in turn means very professional models (as well as, in some cases, hair and make up artists). I am largely joining MM in preparation for casting for several upcoming spring 2012 mixed media projects- I will post more details, as well as set locations and examples of props and style at a later date (regrettably after the loss of my HD I have pitifully little work to display on my profile as pertains to this body of work). **UPDATE** Recently relocated to SD- I am planning upcoming shoots in both the SD/OC/LA area and Thailand later in the year. I may not be very active on here until early summer, at which time I will upload further, more directly relevant work and begin working on casting, but I will endeavor to respond to any messages I receive in the interim.
