About Me

Welcome to my Model Mayhem Page.

I'm James Rybolt. I am an amateur photographer in the traditional sense of the word -- that is, I do it for the love of the craft. I like to consider myself a "professional amateur" in that I have a long history in photography and am very experienced, but I don't practice photography professionally.

I have been enamored with cameras and photography for most of my life. When I was young, I loved playing with old cameras even though they didn't have film. I even remember taking apart one of my father's cameras when I was really young to understand how it worked. Later, I used Polaroid instant cameras and cheap 110 and disc cameras to take photos when I was a little older. In high school, I became more serious about photography. I learned using a completely manual film camera (a Pentax K1000 for the curious). I learned to develop and print my own photographs. I learned composition and the rules of photography. Time has passed since then, my equipment has gone digital and has expanded. But, I still love photography and I am always learning.

Photographs represent frozen moments in time. Whether they are instants of light captured on film or on an electronic sensor, they help us to remember special or unique moments. They tell a story.

Over time, I have explored many different areas of photography -- architectural, artistic, candid, conceptual, editorial, environmental, food, landscape, lifestyle, light painting, macro, nature, night, still life, and street photography.

For the past year or so, I have been focusing on genres of photography involving people or models -- artistic, art nude, bodypaint, cosplay, erotic, fashion, fetish, fitness, glamour, head shot, high key, lingerie, pinup, portrait, and wedding photography.

Currently, my work is for my personal experience and to build my portfolio. I am looking to expand into professional, paid assignments. Although, I will work for trade with serious models of any level of experience.

I want to work with committed, responsible models and make up artists that are looking to add to their portfolio and want to have fun taking photographs.

I am also a very accomplished photo retoucher using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and various filters. I became deeply involved in photo editing and art using Photoshop while in college at the University of Cincinnati School of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. So I would be interested in working with photographers who would like to use my abilities as a retoucher.

Please feel free to contact me through MM or via email to discuss your needs / availability / interest.

Thanks for reading my bio and looking at my portfolio. Cheers!
-James
