Alex Nohe is a film distributor, filmmaker, and entrepreneur residing in Los Angeles, California. He has over fifteen years of executive and management experience in the film business, and in every aspect: from usher to producer, but also with significant experience and relationships in the worlds of talent agencies, managers, publicity firms, festival programming, event producing, film production, post-production, marketing, and theatrical distribution.

In 2006, he launched a company that became WALKING SHADOWS. WS is the domestic theatrical distributor of quality American independent, foreign drama, foreign genre, lost classics, and midnight/cult fare.

BURNING MAN – THE BURNING SENSATION marked his debut as a director and producer. The documentary, which he also shot and edited, premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival and went on to play another fifteen festivals before opening theatrically in September 2002. VARIETY raved “a knock-out... amazing... dynamic” and THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER called it “accomplished... invigorating... stunning.”

Previously, Nohe produced INDEPENDENT FOCUS, a talk show on the Independent Film Channel in which NEW YORK TIMES Film Critic Elvis Mitchell interviewed major independent filmmakers, including David Lynch, Steven Soderbergh, Richard Linklater, Wes Anderson, and Kevin Smith, among many others.

He is the former Director of Programming of IFP/Los Angeles (now Film Independent), a non-profit organization that provides services, programming, & education for independent filmmakers. He and his team executed over a hundred events annually. He helped many independent films find distributors, including GODS & MONSTERS (Oscar® winner). WACO: THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT (Oscar® nominee), TREKKIES ($1M to Paramount), Michael Moore’s THE BIG ONE (Miramax), MAYOR OF THE SUNSET STRIP ($1.2M to First Look), and BUBBA HO-TEP (over $1M in the Box Office), among many others.

Nohe has written for FILMMAKER and FILM THREAT magazines. He has been a Programmer at the AFI, Slamdance, and LA Independent Film Festivals; and a Juror at the Seattle, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Italian Film Festivals.

A native Kansan, he graduated in 1993 from the University of Kansas in 1993 with degrees in Film and Psychology. At K.U., he programmed, booked, and promoted the Student Union screening series (doubling annual attendance) and produced other live events for the University.
