Friends (37)About Me
I've been active behind the lens since I was 13 yrs. old when my parents attempted to give their creative child a focus. It worked! I was hooked! I served as the sole photographer for my high school yearbook and newspaper beginning in my freshman year through to my graduation. I continued my photographic passion throughout college and studied under the tutelage of Steve McClaren, former photographer for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, where I learned the MOST about the ART of photography. During my photographic career, I've won awards for my work and pursued my passion from traditional portraiture to nature/landscapes. I'll never tire of the beauty of God's handiwork! In my opinion, there is no better, more beautiful venue/light, and I prefer to create most of my work in a natural environment with natural, ambient light with little manipulation.
As a photographer from the "old school," transition to digital work has been trying at times and I still struggle with it's mechanics, but continue to work to overcome my aversion to this NEW world! I'm still not a HUGE fan of heavy edits and prefer the natural work to shine through. Even as an experienced photographer, the new world of digital has brought me to my humble knees as I strive to learn it's unique blessings and feel like a child lost in a very large, strange world! (No longer in the dark room processing film has definitely brought freedom!) I hope to continue to improve in my digital skills and learn as much as possible about it's magic! In my pursuit of this new medium, I look forward to developing my limited knowledge here on MM through networking and photo shoots. In addition to photography, I'm a retired lingerie/femme fatale/swimsuit model. My experiences as a model were a true learning experience! I learned I truly preferred to be behind the lens, however, modeling provided me with an insight to what it feels like to be in front of the lens as well as behind it. The words of my former mentor sum it up on BOTH sides of the camera, "Don't just take a picture, MAKE a picture!!!" Many believe they can simply show up and look pretty-modeling is NOT that easy! It requires much, much more! As a personal preference, I prefer to work with models who bring their NATURAL beauty to a shoot and give me the opportunity to capture their honest reflection. I'm not a fan of plastic surgery and the way so many beautiful women in this day and age have distorted their God-given gifts. To me, it does nothing to enhance beauty-it simply makes you look fake. I'm also not a fan of the full-throttle "porn" bent that seems to be alive & well in much of today's work from both models and photographers. I believe in bringing beauty, femininity and CLASS to a model's portfolio! If you wish to do tasteless, graphic nude photographs for the sake of your narcissistic insecurities and spotlight your obvious boob job, I'm not your photog. Showcasing your blatant, desperate insecurity and vanity for the world to see just isn't something I'm willing to do. There's plenty of photogs available on this site & elsewhere who'll be happy to take advantage of your stupidity- I'm not one of them. I love to shoot in natural light in natural settings with NATURAL models- there ya have it! :-) I look forward to connecting with and expanding my knowledge through fellow artists, models and individuals who love the art of photography!
