About Me

Nino Ortiz's interest in photography sparked as a student while attending Washington State University in 2009. As an undecided major, he first explored graphic design as a profession by working as a graphic design intern for various offices and student organizations on campus. He became very fond of using textures and images as design elements therefore deciding to purchase his first camera, a point & shoot Panasonic DMC-TZ4, to supplement his work.

Through pure curiosity, his love for photography outgrew his love for graphic design. In 2011, his discovery of the work of the legendary fashion photographer, Paolo Roversi, would change his entire perception of the art. Inspired by Roversi's enigmatic and surreal style, Nino would begin to mold himself into a portrait photographer. To this day, he draws inspiration from other all-time greats like Irving Penn, Elliott Erwitt, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Richard Avedon, and Platon.

Currently, Nino has shifted gears, transitioning from digital format and focusing heavily on medium format. He resides in Portland, Oregon where he continues to fine-tune his style.
