About Me

I'm Paul and I'm interested in making curious, peculiar and interesting images - I'm not interested in taking text book trend dull photos...

In subject and feel, my pictures mostly look at movement, blur, haze, YELLOW, RED, action, the weird, chaos, the unusual, emotion, glitch, CONFUSION!!!

The taking of the photo is however only the start...

What follows is the photoshop, then the printing, then the meddling with the print, the development of GOOD errors + paint, varnish, glues, glitter, oils, perfumes, making the image into an unmistakable

ACTUAL

object

Once the images are finished, I then set about exhibiting them anywhere I can whether that be online, in galleries or currently most often on the street...

EQUIPMENT:

I'm NOT into BIG camerabags. My approach is almost completely non technical and lacks any learned and traditional merit. I like to use simple instant, digital and film equipment combined with unconventional DIY lighting to produce striking images that always look like MY images - unmistakeable...

MODELS:

I've worked with more than 80 models over 13 years. I like to work with both amateurs and professionals. I'm always looking for new people to work with who don't have idiotic hangups about amateurism and who make the effort to turn up when something is arranged!

One thing I'm not interested in is having a 'friends' list of undoubted beauties who sit there

LOOKING GREAT!!!

but don't reply to messages or prevaricate on arrangements with one line messages, so please don't waste everyones time. Engage with me only if you're genuinely interested in being involved or else have a nice day someplace else!

ON THE DAY...

If you model for me, you'll spend very little time waiting on lighting or faffing about with lenses. I'm generally quiet (MY HEAD IS BUSY!!! I don't have space for babbling crap niceities or fiddling for alleged perfection)

I AM NOT DAVID BAILEY (though I'm sure he's a lovely fella) 'OOH YES!!!! THAT'S SIMPLY WONDERFUL!!!!' click click click

Nope. Working with me is a question of standing there and moving about whilst I fire off hundreds of shots more or less at random at all kinds of settings wrong and right, before during and after your best pose, using different film speeds, out of focus, in focus, over-exposed. My photography isn't a fine art, it's mostly messing about exploring, taking risks and keeping myself from getting bored...

Studio & Locations

I have a large LIVE/WORK studio/exhibition space + a LARGE roof space + lots of props, lights, chairs, wigs, hats, masks, clothes and ideas. I'm located right next door to the new Olympic Wonderland in East London. There are plenty of good locations in and around the area of all types: woods, rivers, urban, parkland, industrial etc. I have also recently expanded my operations to an industrial unit in North Norfolk

Terms & Conditions:

Like everyone, I should be STINKING RICH!!! But I'm not and due to overambition and a lack of income, money is habitually tight. No boss, I don't currently make too much £$£$£$ out of making these images so I'm almost always looking for TFP/CD + finished printed and meddled images. However I'm aware that doesn't work for everyone and so am happy to discuss rates.

OK, that's about it.

If you're interested, please do get in touch!

All the very best

Paul

"Working with Paul was an absolute pleasure! The shoot was very relaxed and I enjoyed his creative process of being natural, playing around with movement including fabrics/objects. Would definitely work with him again in the future." Read less
