About Me

I am a professional photographer with over 15 years experience. I have taken a few years off, and am trying to start shooting on a regular basis again. I have a fairly extensive portfolio, but the most recent shots are from 2008 so I might be interested in shooting some TFCD for the right model in order to update my book with some recent shots. I have always held the philosophy that modeling schools are overrated and models can learn as much, if not more, just by working with good photographers. When working with models in the past, my focus was more on helping them succeed than bilking them for all of their money. My experience has been that some photographers will shoot anyone, while promising the world, just to make a buck. I will shoot for anyone, but I am not one to to tell you, "You could be a supermodel, but first you have to buy a portfolio from me." What a lot of models don't realize is that a portfolio should be a compilation of your work, not a bunch of shots from one photographer. Every photographer has a different style, eye, and technique, and any model can benefit from multiple shoots. My biggest pet peeve is prima donna models that think they should get paid to shoot when they have no experience, references, or portfolio. To get to the paying work, you have to put in the time. If you are new to modeling, take advantage of good photographers that are offering TFP or TFCD, and expect at some point to pay a photographer to shoot you. If you get by without have to buy shots, good for you, but don't expect to get your entire portfolio for free. With most photographers, beauty will get you far, but humbleness will serve you your entire career.
