About Me

Robert Kim began his show business career as a child actor, starring with Rock Hudson in his first feature film. Since then he has worked in virtually all aspects of motion picture and television production, serving with distinction for five years on the SAG Minorities Board, the first committee formed with the sole purpose of creating quality roles for minority actors. Robert is a recipient of the Southern California Motion Picture Council’s Golden Halo Award for his many contributions to the entertainment industry.

Also an accomplished musician, Robert left high school to join the platinum recording group, “Climax.” After touring extensively, he returned to acting and his first love, photography. After having studied with the great Mario Casilli of Playboy Magazine, he opened his first studio in Los Angeles and quickly became the pre-imminent headshot photographer in Backstage (formerly, Drama-Logue), his work forming the basis of what has been called “The LA Look” in headshot photography. Since then he has opened studios in Chicago and New York, specializing in actors and helping launch the careers of many of Hollywood’s most well known celebrities. But perhaps his most dramatic contribution might be the introduction of his exclusive “Before and After” portfolios, providing hundreds of aspiring performers a unique and unprecedented glimpse into the work of over 1,000 representative photographers from around the world.

A sought after keynote speaker and guest contributor to nearly every “How to Succeed in Acting” book in print today, Robert Kim is the only headshot photographer to be featured in Random House’s first venture into the world of acting, “An Actors Guide: Making It In New York” by Glenn Alterman, securing his place as the most published headshot photographer in the history of the industry. He plans to open his fourth headshot studio in England, the very first American photographer to bring the ‘LA Look’ to British actors. Ironically, his new London studio will be located in the Chelsea area, the same part of New York City he occupies today.
