Formal training is not what makes a photographer. What makes a photographer is passion and a natural yearning to be immersed in the beauty of the art. Wesley Mayer is a self-taught photographer who has returned from over a year of world-wide travels to his home town of Traverse City, MI and has found a place for his photography in local publications. He has held the title of Fashion Editor of Traverse Bay Family Magazine, accompanying his photography with writing, graphics and organizing an entire section. Simultaneously, he was brought on to shoot with NM3 magazine for the July edition cover as well as an interior editorial spread. Currently, Mayer works as Associate Editor and Photographer for Bay Life North Magazine. Despite still being a novice in the professional photography industry, Mayer has already established his name as his strengths of a unique eye, outgoing personality and a knack for pulling beauty out of anything. It is these traits that set him apart as he works to innovate fashion and beauty photography.

I am always looking for new models and new inspiration. I love creating concepts for new shoots and turning them into beautiful photos. My interest lies in fashion photography, however I am always expanding my portfolio and love hearing new ways to make my photos interesting.
