​​My name is Erik Mara. I am currently a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. I have worked in the Intensive Care Units for Adults, Newborns and Pediatrics. I have a great passion for health and fitness; my purpose in life is to help people and educate on how to live a healthy lifestyle. I live a healthy, active life and lead by example.

When I was in high school, it was a struggle for me to put on weight due playing basketball year round. After I had finished high school, tragedy struck my life. I was a gunshot victim at 18 years old. Cheating death gave me a new lease on life. So, I started weight lifting. After years of experimenting, I figured out how to build muscle and put on the weight I greatly desired. Because of my success, I was featured in a number of fitness websites and videos.

The results from my research were phenomenal! I was able to compete in my first bodybuilding competition in 2004 as a middleweight. I wanted to pursue it more, but returning to school and a switch in careers forced me to put a hold on it. After settling down with my new career, which is what I do now, I thought about competing again. When I heard about a new NPC contest called Men’s Physique, I quickly trained for it and signed up to compete in April 2011.

It didn't occur to me that I was inspiring and motivating a lot of my friends and coworkers through my regimen. Even people at the gym were approaching me for advice. I was frequently asked to share my diet plan, workout routine and supplements. At the hospital where I worked, I became the motivation for a lot of my colleagues. The more people I inspired, the more of a blessing it is to me. Because of my love for fitness and helping people, my social media page became my very own inspirational page.

In my social media pages, I post photos for people t​​o be inspired and motivated. As of now, I feel I am meeting my second life's calling. I also started to call myself a Health and Fitness Advocate as a way to let people know I am a true passionate of this lifestyle.

My goal as a Medical Professional, Health & Fitness Advocate is to keep doing what I have been doing and that is to inspire people. Making others better is what I believe to be the only reason for living.
