About Me

“You make the picture, and you know something just froze solid in a shifting world. Something stabilized, for all time”. Joe McNally

I am a 39 years-old New Yorker. I was born, raised and educated in Italy; as an adult, I have lived in France, Spain, Denmark, and Canada. I am married to an awesome French-Canadian man, Eric.

Up until a few years ago, I used to compulsively take snapshots with my point & shoot. I would then make elaborate on-line albums, mainly to be able to share my new life across the Pond with family and friends back home. Initially it was just something I did to keep in touch, but before I knew it, I found myself obsessing about the right angles, the most balanced composition, the most flattering light – basically, the elusive search for the best way to really tell a story with my shots.
It became apparent that my beloved Canon SD1200 was no longer sufficient for me to convey what I felt about the world around me - it was time to take it up a notch. So, I went out and bought my first Nikon D90, with its 18-105 mm kit lens – and before I knew it, I was hooked. The snapshots days were over forever, swept away by my new all-encompassing passion.

As soon as I had the D90 in my hands, I realized that some kind of formal training was in order. I immediately enrolled in the “Fundamentals of Digital Photography” course at the New York Institute of Photography (“the oldest photography school in the world”) - that gave me a solid base to start experimenting and exploring with my new DSLR. After that, I moved up to an advanced class the ICP – International Institute of Photography, where I fell in love with the magic of Adobe Lightroom. I live literally next door to the world’s best photography store, B&H, and I have the privilege of attending classes there with the most inspiring internationally recognized photographers on a weekly basis.

Up until recently, photography was simply a hobby. Over the past year, I have realized that it is something I’d love to devote my life to.
