I'm an active duty Marine Officer in Washington D.C., recovering from cancer, and hipster at heart. Photography is part of my personal therapy. I have decided to no longer use professional digital equipment or studio time for the dime a dozen fashion/model/advertising etc... shoots though previous examples can be seen in my portfolio.

I solely use film now with a variety of different format cameras and subscribe to the organic lomography style of fun and quirky photos that pass just as easily on Instagram as they do as a new style of street art. I strive for capturing natural moments that add a real personality to each and every picture.

My imagination and focus on producing something memorable may appeal to a smaller group of models but it is something that feels more natural than holding an awkward pose and using a lighting setup more complicated that a calculus final.

Understanding this attempt at finding my own identity in something I love is not for everyone but I encourage you to give something like this a try.

Unfortunately, the way these photo shoots go are less about compensation and more about adding diversity to your own portfolio if this is something you'd be willing to try. I'd think you come to find its a much more fun experience than a group of strangers treating you like a malleable object instead of encouraging real life emotions, especially because makeup and wardrobe requirements would be entirely up to the model.
