I'm Mike, I've been interested in photography for quite a long time now, but until recently, I have been mostly focusing on nature shots. Last July, I decided to try something new for me. Not knowing whether I'm any good at it or not I arranged a few shoots with amateurs (most people have never had a shoot in their life). Despite the fact, both sides were inexperienced, we managed to achieve some great results. What is more, I have recently been contacted by people from Getty Images who noticed my work online and want to sell it!
I am happy to work with complete amateurs as I don't find it a waste of time. In contrary, finding people with natural modelling skills is a great feeling. I believe everyone is special in their own way and everyone can produce great photos by the way they act in front of a lens.
On the other hand, however, I would relish opportunity to work with people who actually have some experience. Don't think that a merely 6-month experience makes working with me a chore. I am a perfectionist in everything I do in my life and photography is no different.
As I treat it merely as a hobby, I can't afford to pay at the moment, but you will get fully processed photos (I do retouching myself) which you can use to enhance your portfolio.
I'm a very positive person with good sens of humour and from what I have heard, working with me is more like working with a friend rather than a stranger. I tend to limit the stress factor to the minimum.
I don't have a studio so all photos are taken on location with available light/flash. We can arrange to meet up somewhere or I can pick you up from home and drop you off home afterwards to minimize inconvenience. I'm based in Cardiff, but I have a car and can travel. With every shoot, I learn new things and I did notice having an assistant does make a difference so I try taking a friend with me to assist with lights, also on Sundays I usually have a pretty good hair stylist on disposal.
