I am an artist, MUA and photographer, and looking to do some shoots in the area. Mini and Full sessions available. Its really interesting to come back here after taking a sabbatical, and find that my philosophies are still the same!

Let me share a bit about my photographic philosophy. I believe in "getting the shot" in camera. I'm not a big fan of tons of post-processing (but I have an editor available), so sometimes I'll shoot the same pose/series of poses several times. I am relatively new to pro photog, but I like to think I have a talent for it :) Always learning, though. I tend to prefer shorter shoots, as they are intense. Max 2 hours generally 1 hour, so that neither you nor I start looking tired/photos looking stale. I have a great eye for detail and will tell you when to smooth your hair, etc. and when to pause, move a tad, etc to get a really great shot. And, unlike most portrait photographers, I don't use a tripod-moving around helps get better, more dynamic shots. I am an artist, not a formulamatic picture taker.

My artist’s statement for makeup is much the same as my philosophy in all the other fine arts. As an artist-painter, makeup artist, designer or otherwise, I strive to work organically, allowing one decision to flow into the next. The work, makeup, is the most provocative when I allow this evolution to occur with as little input from my conscious brain as possible. The face, with makeup, or the camera’s lens, is only the canvas. What the wearer thinks, feels, and remembers in relation to seeing herself, and others seeing her, is what determines the existential value of the work.

I have a background in the fine arts, graduating from Texas State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in painting and fiber arts.
