My passion for fashion started ever since I was a little girl. Fashion was rooted in my family, as both my mother and grandmother were both entrepreneurs with their own custom design clothes. That's how my mom made a living back in Africa (Cape Verde). My earliest memories are from watching my mother sew clothes in her living room. There I developed the taste for fabrics and appreciation of detail and quality in craftsmanship and most of all my passion for design.
I work with all different types of textiles but one of the textiles that interested me the most is African fabrics because there is so much history behind its print. I've never came in contact with African prints until I moved to the United States in 2004. I was attracted to that type of fabric and its quality, that's when I started designing African wears and doing fashion shows in African Cultural events such as African Nights Tchaka Night, Cape Verdian Night and fundraising events.
