I have a lifetime of photographic experience and a passion for learning new photographic tools and techniques. After shooting film for over thirty-five years, I took the digital dive in 2009 and bought my first DSLR. I can now take full advantage of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and various add-on programs. I generally shoot camera raw plus jpeg.

I have always loved movies, television, radio, books, music and the theatre. I literally grew up in movie theaters and drive-ins. My influences are many and varied.

I’ve shot everything from senior portraits to headshots, weddings, celebrity dinners, award ceremonies, and just about everything in between. My work has been published in magazines, CD booklets, and on video packages, and my photos are all over the Internet.

My interest in glamour and pin-up photography brought me to Model Mayhem, where I see talent represented on both sides of the camera. Besides photographing professional and aspiring models, I enjoy photographing musicians, actors, dancers, artists at work, and Burlesque performers. Documenting the creative process is one of my favorite things.

I find inspiration in the photographic works of Edward Steichen, George Hurrell, Man Ray, Richard Avedon, Bert Stern, and Annie Leibovitz. In the last few years, I have been introduced to the photography of Viva Van Story, Gayla Partridge, Roy Varga, Chas Ray Krider, and Shannon Brooke. These contemporary photographers are fine artists who follow in the footsteps of illustrators such as George Petty, Gil Elvgren, Alberto Vargas, and Olivia De Berardinis.

My appreciation of art and artists like Titian, Degas, Renoir, Manet, Hopper, Parrish, and De Lempicka and street photographers like Henri Cartier-Bresson and Walker Evans has had a major impact on my current photographic activities. In the last few years, I have earned associate degrees in the Liberal Arts, Graphic Arts, Illustration, and Multimedia from Sierra College.

I prefer photo assignments in Northern California, but I am willing to venture further, when my travel expenses are covered, the job fits my busy schedule, and the project appeals to me.

I hope that by joining Model Mayhem I will attract the interest of models whose artistic sensibilities are in sync with my own. I’m also here to seek out new collaborators who are interested in high quality dramatic, comedic, abstract, and erotic imagery.

The creation of a great image requires great collaboraters. Beyond the work of the photographer and the model, contributions by makeup artists, hairdressers, costumers, set designers, location managers, and retouchers usually come into play. The work of these frequently unsung heroes can turn an ordinary shoot into something extraordinary.
