About Me

Niño-Eduardo Palaña was born in San Francisco, California in 1981, and is currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Educated at Junipero Serra High School (with Barry Bonds and Tom Brady) and after a short four year stint between Skyline College and College of San Mateo he finally earned his B.S. in Advertising from San Jose State University with a focus in Design in 2006.
His mentor is Arthur Takayama, a photography and art teacher at Skyline College. From 2000-2005 he taught Niño the true art of black and white film and color processing. After five years of film and community college Niño took a photo journalism class at San Jose State and entered the digital realm.

He used his knowledge of film and development and turned his digital images into stories and art. You can call him classically-contemporary (albeit an oxymoron) because he photographs with the goal of his images standing alone from the current trend.

Niño's favorite quote is from Chuck Close: “Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work...” - Chuck Close

Although the quote may sound cocky in nature, he believes that this is a quote of a confident man who is always learning from others and is willing to teach as well.

“I play with light and use it to create beauty from the mundane and capture the heart of the subject. I am very versatile and I am up for any challenge...”
- Niño-Eduardo C. Palaña
