Portrait photography has not changed in approximately 40 years. Sure, we now capture and process images digitally, but the final image is still a 2 dimensional color image. As an Imaging Systems Engineer in Rochester, NY I have been working on "The future of Portraiture" for a long time. The 3D images I produce are not a gimick or a novelty. They are nothing like the 3D images produced by Fuji's new consumer 3D camera. They are high quality photos that give you the impression of looking directly at a persons face, not at a photograph. They are stunningly real, but can not be experienced unless in person. If you have a 3D portrait taken, you will literally treasure it for life. This process requires a specialized capture system with mulitple cameras. The system is too complex to explain here, but the portrait experience for the subjects are exactly the same as today. The final result, however, is amazing!
