I'm Jd Dudley. I believe I have a hawk eye for the devilish details behind pens, proverbially in a digital world, and the composition in lenses. I focus. I've traveled around the world, almost. I've stood on all but three continents and lived in all but four (sic).
I studied English Education and Journalism in college. I joined the US ARMY shortly after 9/11 serving as an electrical repair shop foreman. After completing full-time service I joined US ARMY Reserves serving as a Broadcast Journalist. Now separated from the military I find myself invested in the idea of service as a writer, photographer, camera operator, and editor of words as well as video and customer service is my chief concern. I enjoy what I do and I do it well.
My life experiences have made me sensitive to stories depicted through words and pictures, moving or still. I'm encouraged by naturally occurring beauty in subject(s) and scenery. I try my best to capture its likeness with letters or cameras.
My works have been featured in training videos, video news magazines, as recruiting and retention tools, and as motivational pieces promoting transparency and harmony in otherwise hostile environments.
I'd describe my writing and photographic styles as attempts to preserve being "there". I'm out to satisfy the idea behind telling anyone you had to be there. I'd rather viewer ask what it was like to be "there" considering a subject's expression of joy or sorrow or anything in-between. I'd like my works to cause viewers to pause pleasantly or curiously contemplating what they see before looking for more to see. I'd like my pictures to be interesting enough to cause people to want to be "there", in the scene.
I treat people as I'd like to be treated. I work with that in mind.
So why not take a picture, a video, or write your idea down? It lasts longer" ;-)
