Hi. My name is Rob McElroy, and I have been a professional photographer since 1980. For 30+ years, I have shot primarily commercial, advertising, magazine, photojournalism and sports assignments while concentrating on what I love most - photographing people (primarily women).

Being a perfectionist by nature, my desire to creatively and artistically capture the essence, mystery and beauty of the female form has led me to apply my talents to now creating daguerreotypes; the first practical form of photography from the 1840s and 1850s. This long-forgotten (and incredibly difficult) photographic process, produces a one-of-a-kind image on a plate coated with pure silver that has been polished to a perfect mirror. It is the most stunningly beautiful and mysteriously lifelike of any photographic process ever invented. Producing daguerreotypes is my passion and my art.

While I still do regular portfolio work for aspiring and established models (creative and interesting lighting is my specialty), I am currently seeking models that have an intriguing and captivating “look,” for several ongoing daguerreotype projects I am working on, one of which is entitled, "Modern American Women." The "look" I mentioned, is a look that captures the viewer’s attention and won’t let go. It’s a look that comes from inside you and reveals something about who you are, not just what you look like. It’s a look that you can change at-will, from curious to mysterious, or from playful to sensual. It’s all in the eyes, the posture, the attitude, and your ability to be comfortable and creative in front of the camera.
