Being involved in the news and magazine publishing industry as a graphic designer, editor and publisher for many years, I learned to see the world, it's people, and the things we see in every day life very differently than many others. Until just a couple years ago, I considered photography something I loved to look at and critique. Then, something changed when I borrowed a friend's digital SLR for a project for a magazine. I saw through the viewfinder the way the world looked, and the way animals and people became objects in a scene, and the way buildings and the ground became props. I was and have been fascinated with the camera and what it can do ever since. I do not consider myself a professional yet, and have set goals for myself and my work to achieve the status as a professional. I have much learning to do, and am working hard to gather my professional credentials through training, practice and experimentation.

I love to experiment with lighting and creative techniques with the way light interacts with different materials. I am also fascinated with low-light photography. I use a Fujifilm HS20exr, a bridge camera which has excellent low-light capabilities in addition to full manual control over aperture, ISO, shutter speed, focus and zoom. It also has the ability to shoot High Dynamic Range images right out of the box, so when experimenting with light and materials, it opens up many new possibilities.
