My name is Lisa Snead and at the age of two I became friends with a girl named April Wagner Regular. She has Cystic Fibrosis which is a terminal genetic mutation that the body does not make the salt that breaks down mucus. This creates overproduction of hard tacky mucus that effects all over the body, in April’s case it mostly effects her lungs. April had a double lung transplant Nov. 20th of 2010. After a lung transplant, the patient must be immobile for months, so her mother took off work to take care of her daughter. This wiped out a majority of their previous fundraising money. Because the lungs are not her own, her body could eventually reject them, and we want to make sure that she will have the means to pay for future expenses.
To help raise money we plan to do a high fashion runway show featuring local designers, body artist, hair stylist, and makeup artist. We plan to sell the items, as well as take donations at the door, and the proceeds will go to April. This is planned for February 4th 2012 at the Black Flower in Raleigh. But you know how it is: you have to have money to make money. It cost about 50 dollars to put a model down the runway, 100 if we have to purchase clothes, or the makeup. And that’s where you come in:
