I present bodypainting as the modern expression of an ancient art, incorporating cultural imagery in combination with modern and pop art. My bodypainting projects include studio sessions to generate fine art photographs and live bodypaintings as a performance art for my event company, Agostino Arts.

The fundamental reason for painting a human body, rather than canvas, is because it is a living being, so in a successful project the model is an equal collaborator with the artist and the photographer. In performance art presentations I rely on the model to bring the painting to life through their movement skills and their spirit. In still photography my goal is to radically transform the physical image of the model but still allow their human identity to show through. My casting calls range for tfp or minimal pay for non-commercial projects to paid assignment calls for models, dancers and performers for corporate and public events.

I’ve enjoyed a 30 year adventure in theater, facepainting and bodypainting as chronicled in the book Transformations! The Story Behind the Painted Faces, published by Kryolan Professional Makeup. My work has appeared on the CBS Early Show, NBC Today Show and the cover of the Abercrombie & Fitch Quarterly. Based in New York, my company of face and body painters transform thousands of people annually, including 18 years at the Bronx Zoo.
