About Me

I am a commercial/fashion photographer based in Glasgow but working regularly in Birmingham.

Hire me:
As a commercial photographer making people, places, and products look their best is my job.
Hire me if you're a model looking to get started in the modelling industry, if you're an established or upcoming model needing fresh shots for your portfolio, or if you're anyone that has a need for quality images for commercial grade images of, well, anything. Contact me and we can discuss.

I'm also a designer for web and print, so if you're a freelance model you will want a website/blog/online portfolio as well as a printed portfolio and something memorable to leave with clients at castings that will get you the job rather than someone else.

I'm a professional photographer, therefore you have to pay me real cash money if you want to use me! I will only TFP in extraordinary circumstances, or if I have spare time and wan't to experiment and test out some exciting concepts.

TFP:
I literally said 2 lines ago that I expect cash money in exchange for my services, but I will TFP for a mind blowing concept, a mind blowing model, or to fill holes in my portfolio, but remember that TFP will be chance for us to experiment, to play around, to shoot with no deadlines, no expectations, great shots no doubt, but if you want me to spend all day shooting a portfolio for you, under your direction, to your deadlines, well you have to pay for that, and obviously paid work has priority so retouching of tfp shots might be a week or 2.

About me:

I began photographing seriously in 2006 and studied at the Glasgow School of Art, I have progressed to the level where I am fluent in photography; confident in my own concepts I can bend light and sculpt the human form into what I see in my minds eye, resulting in the combination of Art School refined aesthetic sensibility matched with a sublime technical mastery.

As a photographer I definitely have my own style (it has been described as 'David Lynch-escue, an uneasy perfection), but we can work together to craft an aesthetic that is right for your shoot, or your portfolio, although you must remember that I have my style and I will deviate from it enough to give you what you want but not to enter a realm where I no longer know what i'm doing.

As for TFP, i've spoke about it earlier but i've spent 6 years refining my portfolio, sometimes I feel like I need to update it, or try new things, but it's really as and when I have the time to shoot, so if you're an aspiring model, remember it's you who needs perfect images, if you're serious about this you have to spend money to make money, a full days shooting with a professional will give you more than just images- it will give you experience, and advice from an ex pro model, so be wary of faux-tographers offering free shoots that will just waste your time helping them build their portfolio, hire me and I will help you build yours.

My prices are fair for the level of quality I can give you. If you want this level of work you have to pay for it. I can't deliver anything less than 100%, but I can usually find a way to get the price down for you, e.g. if you don't have prints made, or are not in a hurry for the finished images, so let me know and i'll see what I can do.

Prior to photography I worked as an agency retoucher, and prior to than as an agency represented model for Boss (Manchester) and The Model Team (Glasgow) so I have experience of working on both sides of the camera and in most areas of the fashion industry, the unfortunate truth is that most photographers know how to light and how to operate a camera, but need a stylist and an open copy of Vogue to know how a fashion shoot should look in terms of hair, makeup and pose, I know all of this, I live and breathe it, i've been around the creative/fashion process all my life, photography was the last thing I learned along the way and it was by far the easist. I am a 1 man creative band when I need to be, styling, hair, retouching, I have a vision and I'll make it a reality.

Be wary of photographers who want you to do 'artistic' work, it might make a pretty picture to go on your wall but it wont get you any work, but sometimes a pretty picture is all the 'model' really wants, are you going to take this seriously, do you have a strong enough look, do you care that profesional modelling is no longer about you but about what you're trying to sell, a product, a look, or a lifestyle, do you really want to be just a human clothes peg? If the answer is yes, then through my close communication with agencies I know what they are looking for. I'm a photographer who knows the importance of pose as well as light, so while you're still not sure what works for you I can advice you and together we can create the perfect portfolio to help you get jobs in whatever field you are aiming for.

I also offer a high quality retouching service and I am an authority on colour management (I wrote a book on it), so if you have any files that need anything from a quick fix up to a complete background swap and composite then please see my retouching page on my website.
