I have always had a passion for fashion and makeup artistry. For years, it was just something on the side that was fun to do. I discovered the passion when attending BARBIZON school of modeling. It was when our first head shots were being taken that I thought; I would love to be the doing the makeup for these individuals, and that I did. I would help and contribute time after class to learn from makeup artists there.

As years went on, I was fortunate enough to study at the FASHION INSTITUTE OF DESIGN AND MERCHANDISING. I majored in Merchandise Marketing and minored in Product Development. There I found even more inspiration of art through makeup. The diversity in fashion, makeup and style as you walked down the halls. Meeting the teachers and hearing their story about how they came about in this industry would be astounding. How the individuals presences was through the eyes and the skins radiance.

In 2006, I landed my first professional role as a Makeup Artist, working for “MAC” cosmetics. The Manager told me that I was one of the first few employees hired without a professional background in makeup or a portfolio. I believe the combination of skills, perseverance, initiative and a bit of luck was the key to landing the position. “MAC” definitely helped me develop other skills and attributes that would help me move forward in this industry.

Since then, I have been doing makeup professionally in a retail and personal environment. I have worked at and coordinated countless in store makeup events. Along with private sessions and weddings with clients, who of which refer to many friends and family. My kind of marketing is word of mouth and their first impression of my work.

All the while, I have been building my business as a Freelance Make Up Artist on the side. I have been doing makeup for weddings, events and fashion shows. In 2007 “MAKEUP X MICHELLE” was created and has allowed me to work independently part time.

As a full time, I am a wife to a very supportive husband and mother to two beautiful children. They keep me on my toes but without them my life would not be worthwhile. I am looking to build my portfolio in all fields. Most especially, I am looking to have fun and learn.
