I am a visual artist and the human form is the primary inspiration for my work. I have shown my work in numerous solo and group shows throughout the country over the past 10 years, and I am represented by several galleries in New York and around the country.

I explore the intersection of abstraction and representation in painting and drawing, and immediacy and gesture are very important in my paintings and drawings. My paintings include elements of drawing, and I often draw directly into the canvas using oil pastel, graphite, charcoal, and other materials (see www.billclaps.net)

I am beginning a new series based on the movement in dance and yoga, and I am joining Model Mahem to connect with new artist’s models for my work, as I have had a hard time recently finding models who understand movement.
