Aloha! I'm Darla!!!

I got my degree in Theatre Design and Production, and I'm not really utilizing my creative impulses at my current job :( Hence the reason, I would love to do makeup on the side somehow. I also have experience and education in wardrobe, costume construction, and elements of costume design and research.

I basically want to gain more experience and build a better portfolio. I understand the basic principles of makeup and color theory. I understand tedious research and concept. However, experience and practice are key. Ideally, I would like to work with other models, photographers, wardrobe - anyone who has some awesome ideas! Preferably people on the same level as I am. People who have little or no experience, but would like to gain more.

My background was mostly theatrical makeup in college, however I want to venture more into fashion makeup. I'm open to any form, but I would prefer NOT to do old age, as I've already done a lot of that. I want to expand my expertise.

Makeup projects I'm dying to work on:
Switching genders
Fantasy (animals, mythical creatures, MERMAIDS AND GODDESSES ESPECIALLY)
High fashion
Likeness (i.e. turning someone into Audrey Hepburn or other movie star)

And incredibly vague, but:
Anything at the beach
Something historical
Avant garde, surreal, dream-like
Something involving a circus theme would be so fun, conceptually
Anything period
Ballerinas (or any dancers)

Other stuff about me?
I like reading, watching old movies, designing jewelry, Tahitian dancing, the social sciences, and going to the beach!!
