Abdul-Jalil Abdullah is a Photographer, Videographer, Director and Editor born in Cleveland Ohio. The youngest of 11 children, Abdul-Jalil grew up an observer, and learned early on that life is colored along the lines of perspective. Now, through his work and art, he paints a perspective that causes people to reflect and touches the part of them that is real and universal.

As a child, Abdul-Jalil was drawn to documenting the happenings around him and could often be found with a camera in hand. As he grew older, his imagination expanded and he started to experiment creatively, to display his images in a unique way. By 2007, Abdul-Jalil decided to take his passion seriously and started Dark Legacy Entertainment. In 2009, he enrolled in “Digital Flim-making and Video Production” classes at the Art Institute of Atlanta.

The name “Dark Legacy” speaks to a time in Abdul-Jalil’s life when he was making massive progress, but without recognition or fanfare. Says Abdul-Jalil, “I was building my legacy, but in the dark.” Even now, he would rather make power moves behind the scenes--quite literally. Abdul-Jalil is a photographer and photo editor, shooting and editing people and landscapes; a videographer, recording events and special projects; as well as a budding filmmaker, filming and editing documentaries.

Abdul-Jalil is fueled by a desire to contribute significantly to the pages of history, specifically from the lens of a Black American Muslim--a perspective not often seen. He is working to make Dark Legacy an entertainment and media powerhouse,
expanding into publishing and other major industries, so as to present an accurate glimpse into his multi-faceted culture, and use Islamic principles to positively impact the mainstream. Ultimately, Mr. Abdullah wants to educate and bring people together, celebrating similarities and the rich simplicities of life.
