Fashion is a complete mystery to most; to me it's common sense, my lifestyle and all I know. Even before I could remember I was the only grammar school student waiting for the September issue like clockwork. My first professional experience in fashion was when I produced wardrobe for a small budgeted Indie film, the experience was everything I anticipated and it taught me so much about wardrobe within the film industry. Following the summer after filming wrapped I made the move to Los Angeles to attend FIDM, the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. College in a fashion based atmosphere was different and unusual but like every college experience it opened a number of doors for myself and gave me thick, nasty taste of the fashion industry on how hard it is to break through. After college I took breather from the madness, packed up and moved home. Six months later I was back in LA for another round. Twenty-one and looking for my place, trying to convince designers, lead stylists and the Nastygal CEO that I was "next big thing", a good hire. As if it were a routine, moving back home was my only option. Two and half hours away from my dream and disappointed. Towards the end of 2012 it was decided living on Faith would be the best bet. Anna Wintour is my ice queen idol, women who have really made an impact on the fashion industry her words ring through my head but these are my favorite "There is something about fashion that can make people really nervous". People mock fashion because its misunderstood just like its following. Now I can finally breath and rest assure I am employed, but on top of that apart of an incredible team at KCCI. The future is expanding; the possibilities are endless.
