I was born in Cartagena, Colombia, in 1982 to an Ecuadorian father and Colombian mother. I've been living in Miami since 1988. Long time.

Developing my style as an artist has been an interesting process. Life drawing and observational skills have always been at the heart of it all. Through years of training, I have reached the point where I can create whatever I can imagine. It really is an incredible rush, the link between the creative center and the body. In the tradition of the old masters, I studied their techniques and processes, embracing the classic tools of art making and creating a reflection of the world as I thought it should be.

To this day, there is nothing like the visceral, buttery touch of oils, or how a pen can have the versatility to create smooth lines and rough ink splatters at the same time. The most natural step in this growth has been the embrace of technology and the tools it offers to help push the limits between reality and fantasy even further. Programs like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator add another level of control that cements the world where my pieces live. However, even with this new tool, the process of creation usually begins with a sketch in my book. The end result, whether traditional or digital, is always a choice made after the idea has been thoroughly worked out.

In the end, your imagination brings the pieces together, but the devil is in the details. Being able to reference live models is why I'm here. Meet new people, share ideas, and make art.

If we don't make art, then whatever we don make will be a hell of a lot of fun.
