About Me

UPDATED: In 2009, I semi-retired from photography and now only do it for what I want to do and not what I get paid to do.  I practice mostly in the area of Tax Adivising, Tax Representation, Tax Prep, and Divorce Mediation as a Divorce Mediator and Tax Adviser in Fishers, IN.  You can see my professional bio at http://www.linkedin.com/in/taxprojoe

However, with photography, I create professional images of the utmost quality and would invite you to compare the type of work I do with anyone else around.  I am committed to achieving the perfect image. I trained at the Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology for Commercial Fashion photography, but also I have had extensive training with other well recognized photographers. I am capable of retouching, special FX, location travel, etc… .

Fashion models do not need to ever pose nude to get work. Professional models hoping to get regular work should seek out an agency and get signed with a legit agency. There are many photographers posing to act as an agency however rarely do photographers have the resources to get consistent work for models nor do they have the understanding and education to do so. There are quite a few of those photographers in the Indianapolis Area but there are also good photographers and amateurs only trying to better their own craft.

I do very limited TFP work but will make exceptions for certain looks.
Tips when looking for a photographer:

They should have an address, not a P.O. Box. You and anyone else should be able to find the photographers true location, be careful of going someplace unfamiliar.
Women should always try to take someone with you.
Let other people know what you are doing the day of the shoot. Make sure to look at plenty of work. Make sure to get a copy of any release you sign and make sure you have a good understanding of what it is that you are signing.
Make sure to go over rates in detail before shooting. Photographers can design elaborate comp cards and Zeds for you but you can also do it yourself through many other companies. Check out your options and make sure you are not being swindled. There are many photographers who use comp cards as a way to profit a great deal when you could have done it yourself. YOU SHOULD PAY FOR THE USE OF THE IMAGES THOUGH OR HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THEM FOR THE CREATION OF YOUR CARDS. USING IMAGES WITHOUT PERMISSION IS COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT AND IT IS ILLEGAL.

Typically models starting out should have between 10-30 5x7 or 8x10 (preferable) prints in a portfolio book to take to prospective clients and agencies. Those images should consist of several different types of looks to show the diversity you can portray. These prints could be purchased through your photographer or given to you by your photographers through TFP/TFCD shoots. Your book should
also include any tearsheets of work you have already done. Please keep this in mind if you are truly wanting to get serious into this business.

ALL IMAGES ARE COPYRIGHT PROTECTED AND MOST ARE REGISTERED WITH THE COPYRIGHT OFFICE. If we find illegal distribution of our images, we will seek damages as far as the law will allow. Models: PLEASE keep this in mind when searching for a photographer. If you see any of my images posted someplace other than one of my websites, please let me know.  I have found my pictures being used by two "professionals" who try to photograph models on here as well as someone posing to be a model using images of mine.  One girl even posted I was her photographer when I wasn't and I haven't been able to figure out if she just wanted the notoriety or if someone posed as me.  Please learn the difference of a professional image and what isn't if you are trying to get work with an agency.  I see so much bad photography out there on here that people praise.

Adding a crotch or a boob doesn't make it artistic. I am not opposed to nude work.  I have done work for hustler and playboy but I will not pretend and call it art.  There are too many photographers asking to do nude work as "art" only wanting to get their kicks in porn.  So just be careful and remember that anything posted online can become "Digital dirt".
