My name is Mel. I moved to Manchester, England from Canada just under 2 years ago and what a brilliant country this is! In the time I have lived here I have learned to look beyond the rain and in turn gained some special experiences and friends. I would like to continue this into my work and meet with those looking to build their portfolio and anyone needing a Makeup Artist for a photoshoot, fashion show, and any event. I will offer services free of charge depending on what it is for (charity or community service) but I am mainly here for paid assignments and portfolio building. It is most gratifying to help others exude confidence and enhance their unique beauty. As a Makeup Artist I transform my clients and models. I have a charming demeanour and I work and present myself in a professional manner.

I am planning my return to Canada July 2011. I am taking this time to network with talents back home, with hopes to work together. I have an extensive background in Makeup Art. My journey began 9 years ago learning to do my own makeup as an actress in Musical Theatre and Dramatic Arts. I decided to take night school courses which led me to enroll full-time into intensive schooling. I obtained a Diploma in Cosmetic Techniques and Management at Sheridan College: Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. Soon after I became a counter manager for CARGO Cosmetics and Fashion Fair (makeup and skincare for women of colour). My training did not stop there. I continued school with Caryl Baker VISAGE, Toronto and began working for the company; only now with a certificate in Esthetics under my belt. I then moved onto working at the AVEDA salon and spa ,CIVELLO, as head Makeup Artist and Bridal Coordiantor where I became the go-to girl for eyebrows and facial waxing. Before moving to England I was an Assistant Manager, Makeup Artist, and Eyebrow Specialist at Trade Secrets salon and beauty supply.

I have had the opportunity to work at [FAT] Alternative Arts & Fashion Week in Toronto 2 years in a row.

I also hold a certificate in Airbrush Makeup from The Yorkville School of Makeup and Esthetics, Toronto.
