I am a classically trained, realist painter.

While I am a vocal proponent of the atelier method which emphasizes classical painting techniques passed down through centuries of art instruction, I originally began working in classical realism after visiting a exhibition of contemporary artists at the Tate Modern in London, England. Unconvinced by by the explanations offered by museum staff and university professors of art, I pursued an advanced degree in Postmodern Critical Theory at Royal Holloway, University of London. Upon receiving the highest marks in the class for this thesis “The Architecture of the New and the Phenomenon of the Avant-Garde”, I decided that theory was being used a substitute for true ability and began a life-long investigation into the nature of art and true classical painting.
