My names Antonia Gallagher and I love makeup. Since a young child I always had a over curious interest in makeup from raiding my mothers makeup bag to convincing her to buy me my own at the young age of 6. As I grew older my interest soon became a obsession.
You see I’ve always been convinced that being beautiful is not just about being the perfect size 10 ( zero these days) or having the perfect oval face shape with the huge almond shape eyes. Of course ;these things help and who wouldn’t want them but in the real world 9 out of 10 women don’t have these perfect features and don’t wake up every morning looking like they do in the magazines. Beauty is what comes from within, it comes from self confidence with your charismatic personality. So what do we do when we don’t have flawless skin or have a square head with droopy lids that makes us lack self confidence, how do we achieve that element of true beauty?
We all know it’s a woman’s prerogative to not be happy with what we’ve got and always want to change. Like 9 out of 10 who isn’t perfect there is also 9 out of 10 who don’t have the bank balance to match all these “I want this done” or “id love to have this done” lets be honest who really wants to go under a knife????
This is where make up comes in we can all have our plastic surgery without the surgery and if having our face on gives us that self confidence then so be it as long as we feel beautiful inside then this will shine through (with help from our makeup of course). Its about making the most of what we have got and accentuating and sculpting our best features (wouldn’t the world be such a boring place if we all had oval face shapes with high cheek bones and looked identical). Our faces with our expressions is what make us individual and unique so why change it.
I love the warm feeling and excitement I get when I do my Mum’s makeup for that special occasion, when she first lifts up that mirror and the expression of her face changes in a spilt second its like I’ve given her the gift of youth or when I’ve done my round face friend up for a night out in the town and have give her cheekbones she’s only ever dreamed of and eyebrows that have framed her face the first thing I do is take a picture as I love to capture that moment of disbelief and how confidence now oozes to reveal this truly out standing beautiful woman both inside and out. Now I don’t claim to be magic but I do claim I did help but only by using the correct makeup, tools, colours and this already beautiful face to unleash this what I think of as masterpiece. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.
