I'm Shannon, of S. L. Matteson Photography. I've been doing photography since 2000, and semi-professionally since 2005. I have experience in many types of photography, but my primary area of focus so far as been portraits and artistic imagery.

My Style & Personality:

My style tends to be to work slowly and deliberately (doing it right on my end, making it low/no pressure for you). I'm pretty easygoing, reasonable and easy to get along with and work with as a photographer, but I do expect just as much dedication and professionalism from you as I put into the shoot myself. I'm looking for enthusiastic, dynamic, fun, reliable and punctual models to work with. I take photography very seriously, but I also like to have fun during the shoot. When you're having fun, everything just flows and comes out better.

Meeting Before The First Shoot:

If you wish to meet me before we work together, please say so. I am more than willing to do a pre-shoot interview with you and get to know you first. You're welcome to bring an escort to the meeting, and in fact I suggest you do. I usually conduct these interviews at a bookstore cafe or Panera restaraunt, but any neutral public location you are comfortable with is suitable.

Cancellations & No-Shows:

I don't have time to waste. If we agree to a shoot, I expect you to be where we agree to meet, on time or early, and I expect to afford you the same professional courtesy.

Studio:

I can shoot in available light, with or without on-camera flash, and I have a portable studio. It currently includes two lights, reflector, backdrop, and umbrellas, and I add to it as I can. Using it outdoors requires at least one assistant and access to electrical outlets. Using it indoors requires a space of 12' x 12' minimum. I can set it up in my garage, or bring it to you if you want to use it.

Models Under 18 Years Old:

I will work with models under the age of 18. However, ALL models under the age of 18 MUST bring an escort to the shoot who MUST BE a parent or legal guardian. I WILL NOT work with minors otherwise.

TFP/TFCD:

I am open to considering TFP/TFCD requests, but I don't accept every one I get. I do not give out images before I have had a chance to select which ones pass my quality control requirements, so if you want a copy of all the images from the shoot, or if you want the images the same day, you're out of luck. I prefer quality to quantity or speed. Therefore, you can expect to get between 5 and 10 of the best images from the shoot (my choice how many you get, your choice which ones). Those images will be delivered to you as a 5 megapixel un-watermarked image, suitable for printing at photo quality up to 8x10, and a watermarked smaller version at 800 pixels on the largest side, suitable for use on the web. If you need something different, we can negotiate it. However, once I tell you how many images from the shoot I am willing to give you, please do not ask me to change it. It may seem like a minor thing to you, but editing images well takes time and I am usually very busy, as this is not the only thing I do.

Model Releases:

Unless you are paying me for my services, I use and require them. If you are unwilling to sign them, we should not waste each other's time. If you are willing to pay me AND sign a model release, I will give you a nice discount. ALL models under 18 MUST have a model release signed for them by a parent. I don't work with models under 18 otherwise.

Current Assignments:

Currently, I have the following (unpaid/TF) assignments open that I need female models for:

* Portraits (in casual, flirty/seductive and professional attire)
* Groups of people having fun outdoors (especially couples and families)

And I am willing to pay for female models in the following areas:

* Natural platinum blonde and naturally redheaded and obviously freckled models.
* Shoulder/Neck/Jawline artistry (slender shoulders with prominent clavicles required)
* Maternity/pregnancy
* Artistic dance
* Artistic nude (body painted, metallic painted, themed airbrush [faerie, animal, etc.], black & white nudes, infrared nudes, artistic dance nude, creative collaborative ideas)

******Please inquire about paid work by stating up front what subject you are willing to do (maternity, dance, artistic nudes), what level of nudity you are willing to do (clothed, semi-nude, or fully nude) and what you want as compensation for what you are willing to do. Since tattoos often distract from my artistic vision and intent, the fewer and less obtrusive the tattoos you have, the more I am willing to pay for your time on specifically artistic nude and semi-nude shoots.******

Male Models:

I generally only work with male models if they are paying me, since I do not find myself artistically inspired by the male form. If you are male, like my work, and you wish to have me shoot you, please inquire as to my current rates.
