About Me

*****Given some medical issues (Drs are now ruling out Lyme's and MS), I haven't been online much.  Please know that if you've written me and I haven't responded, it is nothing personal and that I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.  I am still shooting on a limited basis as my health allows and please don't hesitate to contact me if you are interested in working together.  I have several projects that I am still working on (bridal/wedding, couples, beauty/headshots, maternity, families, pets, and artistic nudes).  I am open to other ideas as well (especially model portfolios, actor headshots and weddings, though am shooting primarily for pay at this time.

I've so missed being online here and have missed seeing all the wonderful friends I've met the past five years. I recently purchased Dragon Naturally Speaking in addition to the new camera gear, and so looking forward to being more active here in the MM community again.  Know of any gatherings going on in Phili, South Jersey, DE, DC or anywhere between?  Feel free to contact me through Facebook and let me know smile

**** Prior to my medical issues popping up Sept. '07, I purchased a LOT of new equipment.  As I've upgraded A LOT of my eqipment, I have lots to sell (all of which have been used to capture the images in my port as of March '08). Here's a list of just some of what I'm looking to sell (all reasonable offers will be considered - please keep in mind that most of what I'm selling is in excellent and much of it like new):

------ Nikon D-80 10mp DSL in excellent condition - still in box with everything it came with (most likely sold already but I'll keep this posted just in case the sale should fall through)
-- Nikon/Nikkor 80mm to 200mm f/2.8 IF D lens - works fantastic except for that the manual focus does not work. Rest assured, it is a terrific lens and I used this for most of my weddings during Summer '07. This or its much more expensive VR version which I upgraded to and it's why I am selling this is an essential lens for shooting weddings in my opinion.)
------ Tamron 17 to 50mm f/2.8 Di II, DX - Used once or twice at most and is like new in box with all papers, warranty, etc.  I paid approx. $480 for it new via B&H. This is an excellent lens that is similar to the much more expensive Nikon 17 to 55mm f/2.8 but at almost 1/3 the cost even when new.  -- Reason for selling - upgraded to the Nikon lens. This lens is in NEW condition and was bought in July '07 as a backup to another Tamron lens (same model). Almost all of my wedding photos were taken with the other lens.  I am considering keeping this lens simply as it's much lighter than its Nikon counterpart
------ Nikon 18 to 135 mm f/3.5 to 5.6 IF ED DX lens - like new, rarely used, still in box with full papers and warranty. -- Reason for selling - I upgraded to the 18 to 135mm VR lens which is the same lens - just with a longer reach and the VR.
------ Sigma Macro 105 mm f/2.8 EX lens - like new still in box. -- Reason for selling - I upgraded to the Nikon 105mm 2.8 macro VR.  The Sigma is still a TERRIFIC lens and comparable to the Nikon in my opinion - in many cases I was able to get up closer to my subject with the Sigma - the downfall is the Sigma takes a little longer to latch on to a moving subject making manual necessary on occasion.
------ Lowepro Rolling Computrekker Plus AW bag - holds a 17 inch laptop as well as tons of camera equipment) (cost $270 new) -- Reason for selling - It's simply too much bag for me at this time. I've lost a bit more weight since Sept. '07, and am not as strong as I used to be.
------ Lowepro Rolling Computrekker AW bag -- holds a 15.4 inch computer (cost $200 new) -- like new, barely used.
------ Lowepro Slingshot 300 -- like new and barely used.  Reason for selling - changed to a smaller bag though this is a fantastic bag, holds a pro camera, 70-200 f/2.8, 2 extra lenses, flash, up to 8 CF and SD cards, light meter, filters and more.  It also has 2 slip locks to add additional pouches for frequently used equipment as well as a very large storage area (holds a hardcover book and more) above the main case for personal items or more equipment.
------ ------ Lowepro Slingshot 100 -- in great condition.  Reason for selling - changed to a different bag though this is a fantastic bag, holds a pro camera,  2 to 3 lenses, flash, up to 8 CF and SD cards, light meter, filters and more.  It also has 3 slip locks to add additional pouches for frequently used equipment as well as a large storage area above the main case for personal items or more equipment.
------ Crumpler Red 6 Million Dollar Home photo bag - like new, barely used. -- Reason for selling - switched to a different bag - one more feminine smile
------ Jill-e large black suede with leather trim rolling camera/computer bag.  This is an awesome bag and was used one time (rolling it from the store to my car.) It is in terrific shape and sells for about $295 new.
------ Nikon SB-600 in excellent, like new condition.  (Possibly selling though I am not 100% sure yet that I want to give it up.)
------ Logitech webcam notebook pro (paid $100+ new. Used but in excellent condition and includes the hard case that the webcam fits into)

**** For a limited time only, offering a 2 to 3 hour shoot - sometimes longer depending on the shoot itself (minimum of 20 edited images) for $200.  Please see my website at http://www.CarolineAnnMartin.com and then follow to my online gallery (link is on the first page just below Ivy (Wandering Bohemian's photo)) to get an idea of what I shoot (most any subject with the exception of anything that might be considered degrading to another, BDSM, anything glorifying violence towards another including self injury (it's ok if the image(s) are to make a statement against violence/SI).

Message me if you are interested... I don't know how long I will keep this special, but my normal rates are a minimum of $250 to $300. I am VERY giving of my time and will often spend almost a full day or at least 1/2 day shooting.  I can shoot most weekdays and some weeknights/weekends and am very flexible in terms of working around other's schedules.

~~~Professional photographer with an emphasis on shooting weddings with a sentimental flair and detail.  I am always open to paid wedding and portrait photography as well as commissioned work.~~~
I so love photography and am always seeing the world through the eyes of a camera lens (with or without the camera). I enjoy taking photographs that carry emotion and tell a story. I especially appreciate photographs that capture something about a subject's internal world and love the challenge of bringing forth something that can't be seen and making it tangeable to others.
More of my photography can be found at http://myspace.com/carolinemartinphotography, http://www.CarolineAnnMartin.photostockplus.com and at http://picturetrail.com/carolineam  . The password is ps for the artistic nudes/figure studies folder in my picturetrail.  I am also in the process of getting a website up and running for my photography at http://www.CarolineAnnMartin.com .
**** As stated above,  I am having to be very selective with TFCD's as paid work is coming in and I am needing to concentrate on this (in addition to the health issues I mentioned above). My rates, however, are more than reasonable and I spend a lot of time with the people that I work with (sessions usually last for 3 to 4 hours).  You would get a minimum of 20 (often more) fully edited images for your portfolio use within two weeks time.
The number of looks you'd like to shoot is completely dependent on you, and I am always open to model’s ideas for shoots. I am comfortable shooting headshots, glamor, artistic, artistic nudes, commercial images, couples, etc. similar to what you see in my port.  I am open to most ideas with the exception of anything that might be considered pornographic or involve the glorification of violence (including BSDM - I am not for or against this, btw, it's just for personal reasons that I won't shoot such subject matter.)
I am a Certified Personal Trainer, and I model as well (see my modeling port at 133756). I am very familiar with posing and lighting to make the model look his/her best. Although not an MUA, I've also done makeup for most of the models that I’ve worked with, so I can help along this line as well.
In addition to a studio space in Spring City, PA, I have a small area in the back room of my house that I use as a studio (most of my studio photos in my port were taken here) as well as incredible location shooting opportunities right in my back yard. The Perkiomen Creek (more like a river LOL) is a few hundred feet in back of my home, and the area is heavily wooded with beautiful available light and old historical structures.
As for my equipment that I use, I shoot with two DSLR's primarily a Nikon D300, various Nikon Nikkor lenses, Speedlights, strobe with either grids, beauty dish or softbox and reflectors, various filters, etc…  My equipment is anything but cheap, and it is one of the reasons that I’ve had to begin charging for shoots. Photography is way too expensive to be just a hobby for me.
I do have cats and a dog, so if this may be an issue for you, we would want to do a location shoot or shoot at the Spring City Studio. For those who do not drive I am only about 15 minutes from King of Prussia, PA where many buses go to (including Greyhound from NYC) and would gladly pick you up and then drop you back off there after the shoot. I am also available to travel, though I do ask that my travel expenses (gas, tolls, hotel if needed) be paid for. (I've had many people travel as far as 4 hours away from me to shoot, and I've traveled the same for selective shoots.)
I do require a State issued photo ID showing your DOB and that a model release be signed.  I also require that the model and I talk over the phone before the shoot.  In some cases, I will ask the model to meet with me before the shoot at a local Starbucks or similar public location. These are to protect both the model and myself as well as to ensure that we are both on the same page as far as the shoot and results from it are concerned.  If you are under 18 years of age, a guardian (i.e.: parent) needs to be present.  Escorts are always welcomed - just please let me know ahead of time.
As for TFCD, I am looking to work with women and couples interested in doing mock bridal portraits as well as photograph women as they go through their pregnancy along with mothers/fathers with young infants. I am also seeking to work with very obese individuals who are in the process of losing weight.  Ideally, the person would have a BMI of at least 60 and be getting ready to start their weight loss journey (via gastric bypass, nutrition programs, etc.).  I have lost over 250 lbs, myself, and my one regret is that I only have 3 photos at my heaviest (370 lbs).  I'd love to do a series portraying the hopes and dreams of the person at their heaviest as well as follow them through their journey.  I run several successful online groups as well as have presented at numerous conventions, WLS meetings, etc. and have been a mentor to many.  I'd be more than glad to be an "angel" (aka mentor and coach) to the person I am working with and am available as a personal trainer as well.  The time involved would be extensive to me (not to you minus the photography and possible travel), so I may need to charge a fee though this would vary depending on how close you are to my "ideal" subject, your motivation, and the nature of what we set up in terms of working together.
Being that I shoot both sides of the lens, I am asked more and more frequently by photographers who I shoot with to photograph them along with model for them. I enjoy doing this and am always open to a trade with other photographers whose work I respect and admire. My modeling port is MM # 133756.
The best times for me to shoot are during weekdays, though I am available some evenings along with an occasional Sunday.
If you are interested in working with me or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me a message.  Thank you for your patience in advance and do know that I will do my best to respond to you as soon as I am able.
Warmly,
Caroline
PS:  I've begun shooting with a fellow wedding photographer and friend here on MM named Brett Szemple. Please be sure to check out his site... He's an amazing photographer and someone who I very much consider a mentor...  Although we have a similar shooting style and view photography similarly, he is a much more experienced photographer than me and I consider him along with many others here within MM, a mentor...
In Brett's own words: "Great photography does more than capture moments. Great photography sustains our memories and revitalizes our emotions, keeping them alive."
